• Regional Missionary in the Kalamazoo, MI area • Started with SPSE in 2014 Socorro is a Regional Missionary in the Kalamazoo area. She has the gift of intercessory prayer and finds it to be an untiring work of the Holy spirit. She has formed a small SPSE prayer team that gathers monthly to pray for and with others. They have distributed miraculous medals and rosaries to hundreds of women and men at annual retreats and conferences. You can also find the team evangelizing at county festivals and other public events and gatherings. What motivates you to evangelize? God is so good to me! As a Catholic all my life, I have always had a particular devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus, and Our Mother of Perpetual Help. The love for my family and for (literally) every person I have encountered in my life's journey, has gifted me with some memorable evangelization encounters. I cherish living moment to moment by Divine Providence even as I may sometimes seem untouched by reality. Many special God-moments have helped me to see the lost and encounter the precious image of my Lord in agony. The most abandoned suffering souls in my midst are the ones that by "divine design" are intended for my own edification and spiritual growth in holiness. What is the relationship between evangelization and your spiritual life? To me, being called to missionary discipleship and sharing the love of God begins with perpetual prayer; from before sunrise until sunset and late into the night hours, I find my life immersed in prayer: daily Mass, holy hours before the Blessed Sacrament, praying the Rosary and other prayers throughout the day. In this way, whether I am out walking, working, cooking, cleaning, or whatever activity I am engaged in, there is always the opportunity for connecting with others. I remember to keep my Lord and Mother Mary at the center of my life. Using simple aspirations such as "Ave Maria Purisima!" (Hail Mary most pure) or "Lord have mercy," as I face a trial moment, and always praying in my heart, keeps me serene and docile to the Lord's call. The joy in my heart must be given away freely. I love living in the Lord's time.
Rejoice always. Pray without ceasing. In all circumstances give thanks, for this is the will of God for you in Christ Jesus. - 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18Is there a scripture passage that you turn to often? "And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God…" Romans 8:28 is a daily reminder to trust the Lord in all things. Together with a quote from St. Augustine: "Inasmuch as love grows in you, so in you beauty grows. For love is the beauty of the soul." I set out each day to trust God's providence, and love each soul encountered, whether it is in person or via another connection. I pray the Mass intensely. Spending some quiet time in prayer before Mass, I enjoy visiting with my Lord as my friend. And from the moment of consecration to the moment I receive Holy Communion, I am truly absorbed in the Lord's goodness (which always leaves me thirsting for more…) How can I keep from singing the Lord's praises, when the Lord feeds me delightful heavenly food that He himself has prepared in order to remain with me as promised?
