• Riverside team leader • Started with SPSE in 2015 Paul has a team of 5 who evangelize about every 2 weeks in downtown Riverside, CA. Paul writes the names of those they meet in a logbook so he can intercede and pray for them every day if possible. About once a year Paul meets up with some of the other SPSE team leaders from Southern California for a simple dinner and fellowship. It’s like metal shaping metal. How has God worked in and through your SPSE team? God has shown us he is with us in different ways. We are blessed to receive many different styles of rosaries donated to us. Once we went out and a young lady about 24 went by. We asked if she wanted a rosary and she passed by without even looking at us. However, when she got to the corner, she stopped, came back, and said, “I would like a rosary.” My teammate Ann had a rosary with blue and pink beads. When the woman took it from Ann a tear came down her cheek. The woman said she wanted to pray for her sister that just had a miscarriage. Then she showed us the centerpiece on the rosary. It said, "pray for the unborn". Wow! Praise God for leading that woman to us and putting that special rosary in Ann’s hand. That was 4 years ago, and it was the only rosary we ever had like that. What motivates you to evangelize? God was kind enough to bring me back to the Church after about 20 years of drugs. How can I ever repay him? As Catholics it is our duty to evangelize. I look to the words of Jesus in Scripture, “So should it be with you. When you have done all you have been commanded, say, ‘We are unprofitable servants; we have done what we were obliged to do.’” Lk 17:7-10. Evangelization and the spiritual life are just part of our relationship with Jesus Christ. Can you share an "elevator speech" version of your testimony of God's work in your life? I was on drugs for 20 years; I went to work but I was almost always high. It went dry and I was clean for 4 days, not able to get high. During that time, a friend left me a pamphlet on Medjugorje. As I read it, I heard a voice say, “everything you were taught is true.” I was raised as a Catholic, and at that moment I knew everything I was taught is true. I started praying the rosary and going to confession and Mass. I never looked back. I quit everything I was doing and God has blessed my life. How can I repay the LORD for all the great good done for me? (Ps 116:12)
