• Kailua, HI team leader • Kailua/Honolulu, HI Regional Missionary • Started with SPSE in 2016 As a Regional Missionary Kim works to build a culture of evangelization as she presents the SPSE mission to parishes with the “10 Great Ways” talk. She has also taught the Basic Evangelization Training workshop. Although active evangelization has stalled with COVID restrictions, she plans to set up a prayer station in Waikiki on Saturday mornings! Kim formerly led the North San Diego County which is still thriving. All Glory to God! What motivates you to evangelize? or What led you to SPSE? My evangelical brother and sister-in-law led me to Google "Catholic Street Evangelization." Their willingness to walk the Las Vegas strip to offer prayer and proclaim the Gospel inspired me. I figured, if [we] Catholics have the fullness of truth, we should be out there too! I was overjoyed when I came across SPSE. I thought to myself, "I don't have to reinvent the wheel!" Is there a scripture passage that you turn to often, or a favorite part of mass? 2 Corinthians 12:9 "My grace is sufficient for you, for power is made perfect in weakness." This is one of the first scripture passages I memorized! I must learn to love as Christ loves, and share the truth – the world's promises of wealth, money, and fame only gives the appearance of power. I often share stories of the saints, like Saint Maximilian Kolbe, who perfectly embody this scripture passage. He, an Auschwitz prisoner, appeared to be the weak and power-less prisoner against the Nazi guards. Yet, he exhibited the greatest power of all – "to lay down one's life for his friends."
