My wife and I converted to the Catholic Church as grandparents 10 years ago. It was obvious that I do not have enough years to read everything written about this faith, particularly the Church Fathers. So I have made scriptural Rosary the core of my holy hour. I also have been collecting as many of the prayers of the Early Church Fathers because the prayers are the essence of their beliefs ... beliefs that are not defiled by the muck in which we now find ourselves. We came into the Church, not despite its dogma on the family, but to a large extent because of the dogma of the Church. I have come to understand this faith and to love it because it has brought me closer to God. My biggest regret in life is that I had wandered in my private DIY spiritual desert for over 40 years. But now I take great joy in knowing that "a thousand years are like a day or watch in the night" in that greater reality which is now the most important thing in my life ... and my wife's life as well.
