Last Wednesday, I visited St. Kathryn’s Catholic Church since they offered Eucharistic Adoration into the evening. I after reciting my rosary, I prayed to God asking HIM to send me anew the grace and gifts of the Holy Ghost. Since then, everyday I asked HIM and Our Lord Jesus to send me this request since the Holy Ghost proceeds from the Father and the Son. As I’ve been doing this I see more clearly how dire the situation is in my region of America, New England. For those who don’t know, New England is one of the most liberal and secular parts of the country. Once home to many pious Catholic immigrants who hailed from Ireland, French Canada, Italy, and Poland has the lowest percentages of people who attend mass regularly (even before the lockdowns brought by the pandemic). I attend a parish that is run by the FSSP and celebrates the Latin Mass, and compared to my old parish, the people are very strong in their faith. I want to the Holy Ghost to refill me with HIS gifts so I can help restore and strengthen the Catholic faith in my community. I pray the litany of the Holy Ghost every Monday, and before work I pray for HIS gifts and grace to fulfill God’s will in all things. I know I’m just one man but I want to endeavor to be a collaborator for God with the help of the Holy Ghost who proceeds from the Father and the Son.

Today I went to my old parish to spend time at prayer in Eucharistic Adoration. I was there for about an hour, and during that time I felt God the Holy Spirit speak to me at least to my mind and my heart. During that hour I prayed the Litany of the Blessed Sacrament, the Eucharistic Holy Face Chaplet, the Holy Rosary (Glorious Mysteries), read from my most recent Knights of Columbus Columbia magazine, and finished with prayers for priests and the litany of St. Joseph. As I prayed the rosary, in particular, with each decade I prayed for specific things. In order I prayed for the holy souls in Purgatory (1st decade), the re-conversion of my immediate family, my friends and their families (2nd decade), for the future success and fruitfulness of my marriage with my fiancée (3rd decade), for graces of zeal so I may a faithful soldier of Christ and become a propagator of the faith (4th decade), and lastly if it be God’s will that I be a soldier in my actual work life in the Army National Guard of my native state (5th decade). My background had been in military service (5 years) and I align myself with St. Michael the Archangel as my patron and confirmation saint. I feel God calling me to serve as His soldier whether it be in the spiritual sense, the vocational sense, or both. I want to “fight the good fight of faith” and I want to serve God in the best way possible regardless of what type of battlefield I’m put on. Since we as living Catholics are known as the Church Militant we know that we are at war with Satan, his demons, and their human collaborators. During my time before the Blessed Sacrament I communicate with God as my commander, in desiring what He wants from me, and how I can best serve him before my time on earth ends.

The two people that came to my mind first were my older brother who has fallen away from the Faith and the Church, and my roommate from college who is a brilliant man but an avowed atheist. My older brother is more of an agnostic type who while having received Baptism, First Communion, and Confirmation doesn’t live the faith nor will he call his wife to do so nor have his first child (a boy) baptized. My atheist roommate from college doesn’t believe in God nor any religion for that matter and neither does his immediate family; his twin brother is also a homosexual. I have prayed for the conversion of my family, my friends and their families, and especially those two that they may come to know Jesus and His Church.
