I actually did do this as part of an RCIA program with a dozen students.
I wrote out the word Kerygma and I asked all of them if they had heard it before or knew what it meant. No one knew.
I proceeded to explain that the Kerygma is made up of 4 simple truths about our faith. First, God made us in his perfect image out of love for us and he desires that we nurture a relationship with him. When we do this we are close to God. Second, we are human beings and are not perfect. God knows this about us and he teaches us that when we sin we are pulled away from him. Sin causes a strain and a separation from God. Third, God knew that we would fall short so he sent his only son, Jesus, who was born of the Blessed Mother Mary without sin. He died on the cross for our sins and he went to hell so we would never have to go. He rose from the dead and walked among his disciples before meeting his Father in Heaven. This act is what gave us the ability to have eternal life in him and through him. Finally, this is the gift of salvation through the Holy Spirit. Through baptism we are claimed for God. When we repent for our sins through the sacrament of reconciliation we become clean again. We restore our place close to him and are no longer separated from him by our sin.
God knows us so well.
