Team name: Immaculate Conception Somerville What year did you start with SPSE? 2022 Please tell us a bit about yourself. I’ve been married 29 years to wonderful husband Albert, a cradle Catholic. He is currently discerning the diaconate. We are blessed with four children and a son-in-law. I have a degree in engineering and have been a stay at home mom for 25+ years. I am convert, baptized at the Easter Vigil 2015. Tell us about your team. We are currently a team of 3 evangelists. We go out together 2x a month. We have also started recruiting to expand the team and are looking into having a training session in our parish. What motivates you to evangelize? After sitting in on the synod meetings held at our parish, my husband and I were saddened to hear from fellow parishioners about so many fallen away Catholics in their homes and families. We felt that the culture is in desperate need of hearing about the love, mercy and truth of Jesus Christ. Outside of this experience, we both have been feeling that the Lord is calling us to serve him in a different way, and asking us to surrender to Him and His holy will. What is the relationship between evangelization and your spiritual life (prayer)? As soon as we made the commitment to evangelize, we began to feel better equipped to hear the message of evangelization through the time at daily mass. We know that we need to deepen our prayer and fasting efforts for those that we encounter. Listening to St. Faustina’s diary, we see how important mercy, love and obedience are. Mercy and love for those that we encounter and obedience to God and to our bishops and priests. All of our evangelization efforts need to flow from prayer and from a relationship with the beloved of our heart.
