Infallibility is the assistance of the Holy Ghost in helping the Holy Father to accurately pass on the Magisterium of the Church to the faithful. Like an ordinary man, a Pope has free will, and it’s possible for him to ignore the leading of the Holy Ghost. It’s very important that all Catholics respect the Papacy, but also be personally firmly grounded in the traditional faith given by Jesus through the Apostles, which can never change.
