I am making my post today. Asking the Holy Spirit to fill my family and I is something we do daily in our family prayer but I have begun this again tonight in my personal prayers. I will bring this to my adoration tomorrow as well and will begin inviting the Holy Spirit more into my life in a new way or looking for new areas to invite Him.

Hello all,

1. I typically spend my morning either in a shorter prayer alone before my day begins and/or also with my wife and kids before our day begins. we also try to gather at noon for the angelus.

2. Along with our daily prayers as a family, I try to at minimum attend one daily mass each week together. I also spend some time in adoration with a mens group prior to a weekly bible study.

3. We have a board in my home were we use to write in names and intentions of those we are keeping in prayer. We also use a home altar to display name and card of those we are praying for, like our local Sisters from the Sisters poor of Jesus Christ, and other missionaries we know.

Hey All,

For this Practical Application I suppose I will have to continue to pray for another Divine Appointment whoever during my prayer time yesterday I humbly asked God for a simple show of His working in my life that would increase my faith. I’ll preface this with, I am currently a MA Student for Theology at Catholic International and currently studying Sacred Scripture as it pertains to Salvation History ( absolutely loving this ) and in our class I am currently diving into the Covenants, specially Abrahamic Covenants leading into the Exodus with Moses, while I am also leading an Exodus 90 fraternity through a spiritual Exodus as well…

Now with that being said; as I have been reading and praying as it relates, Abraham as our Father of Faith, I asked my self if I were I stood with God, and if placed in a position to be tested would I trust God to hold onto His promises as Abraham did, even when from the outside it seemed so contradicting to the time. As I prayed and meditated on this I remembered Abraham had asked God for a sign, not that he lacked faith but to increase his Faith and in that God Made His Covenant with Abraham..

So as I took to prayer I rounded off with asking God that he may give me a way and show me that he is still working in my families life that my faith may be increased.. I said my prayers and I went to go get ready for my day. After showering and getting dressed I notices my phone had a message and I checked it, but to my surprise a name and face of an Old Marine Corps friend appeared that I hadn’t engaged with in a while. ( someone I had little faith based conversations ever in our previously life but occasionally shared with in passing as an early Christian) Upon opening the text, he stated that he had been praying and searching, and that he had found himself at a crossroads with God and where he knew he needed to start RCIA! From there and from his invitation I begin to catch up and integrate my questioning into his initial text. to gage where he was in his journey and where I could be helpful. After learning more about his walk, I am now set up to meet with him soon in person to talk more and to gift him with a bible, which funny enough (I had bought as an extra but wasn’t using) that he had been eyeballing online with the intentions of buying.

In my time of friendship, early on I was not a practicing Christian, and especially not a Catholic..
However, later toward the time we served together, he did witness the change God had on me through my conversion to Christ and then to Catholicism while in my fight with alcoholism. Not that I personally planted a seed, but I see now that God also was working in those lives around me.

Maybe this was a bad example for this forum but I say all of this to say that I have had now the opportunity to witness and serve my old friend presented to me and I don’t believe it to be just coincidental. This sign, although I didn’t deserve it, has touched my heart as a blessing to see God has a path of work for me as a brother in Christ but also as an evangelist to those in need. I also see God heard my request and answered my prayer.

I had some time lapse here for doing the practical application part however, in initially praying for this opportunity I had received an email for my call to be “street ready”. Im not sure if you all would count this but I did formulate in about a 3-4 minute testimony to Mr. Wilson over the call where we discussed how to present my testimony and different ways we would go about giving more or less detail depending on who we are sharing with and how that may relate after hearing their story. I have personally given my testimony publicly when speaking to folks ( I have posted one event like this on my team page blog ) and to my family who knew how I was before my conversion to Christ. Either way, all Glory to God in how he works to convict the heart of men and bring them back to himself, in sharing this with others – with the hopes that something I have shared will resonate with them and provoke them to search for God also.

For me I tried to prioritize based on the needs of the person and what they or myself may be going through. I tend to overthink thing like this so for me just taking a step back, realizing I can still pray for everyone I thought of but just focusing a special prayer for the particular person was my goal helped me narrow it down.

We are all in need of prayers and practice in praying so I think for the sake of this exercise we are called to be intentional in our prayer life if we haven’t been before and if we have been to be specific for a person with faith that God is in control and will answer prayers.

I have prayed and decided that I will start with those closest to me who aren’t necessarily far from God but could use some prayers and guidance to be active on their faith and be open to sharing the faith more actively as a disciple and not just a participant. Myself included!

I am currently working through the Intro module and have been thinking of a few folks to share the Kerygma with to practice. I have a friend who is a Baptist and closet Catholic in the making. He is one person I have shared this with. I will also be looking for the next two people through out my day, and will attempt to share this with someone at work and possibly in person in my day tomorrow. I suppose I will need to come back here and verify I have completed this task then.
