Presumption (or sloth) can be very sneaky. I’ll not pray now, but in a little while. Yes, I want to pray now, but let me watch just this first. I’ve been feeling so close to God; why does it feel like He’s moved away a little? The joy we feel while actively participating in life with God diminishes bit by bit as we drift. Perhaps invent a horn that sounds when its’ little interior sensor indicates we’re drifting? Methinks it’s time to revisit that little inside room at church, give a good confession, smack myself on the side of the head (privately) and then reclaim the joy of being in Christs’ friendship. Let’s get going!

I have been hosting a SPSE table for several years. Normally, it’s been “would you like a free rosary?”, offering them a church bulletin with an invitation to come to our parish and an offering of prayer. Occasionally, some have come to the 4:30 vigil on Saturday, but not often. I’ve felt that I’m planting seeds, but after listening in on Bob’s last zoom meeting, I’ve seen that so much more could be accomplished through training. My desire to serve is strong but in need of refining and polishing. These first lessons are teaching me to ‘start fresh and pray hard.’
