• San Antonio Alamo Ranch team leader • Started with SPSE in 2018 Personal info you'd like to share I grew up as a military brat. My father was in the Air Force for 20 years, and we were stationed at numerous Air Force bases during his military service. My favorite base was Ramey Air Force Base in Puerto Rico. When we returned to the States, I was living in Bossier City, Louisiana. Eventually, we travelled back to San Antonio, Texas, I graduated from Jefferson High School in 1969, and then I attended St. Mary's University. I received my Bachelor of Arts degree in 1973. Later, I received my Masters of Education from Our Lady of the Lake University. I had taught twenty years in a public school district and spent another twenty years as a school counselor. After I had retired from the educational system, I had done prison ministry for two years at the Dominguez Prison System, and I also had taught CCD for 11th and 12th graders at St. Anthony Claret Catholic Church. For thirty four years, I have been married to Norma, and we have two children, Louis and Thalia. I am a devout Catholic Christian and I love to pray the rosary. St. Paul Street Evangelization Info Our Lord's team is named the Alamo Ranch Chapter in San Antonio, Texas. St. Anthony Claret Church is located in the western part of Bexar County in a subdivision named Alamo Ranch. Presently, we are a small group of dedicated evangelists who meet in front of the San Fernando Cathedral in downtown plaza, Before the Covid-19, we have been meeting once a month. Currently, we are in a hiatus until the epidemic transpires. How has God worked in and through your SPSE team? From the grace we receive from God, we are inspired to proclaim, to praise, and to glorify the love of our Holy Trinity. When one is the state of grace, this is natural and necessary. It is a labor of love to change people's lives and to do something positive for somebody else. Through the Holy Spirit, we are guided and inspired to follow God's Will. As we follow God's Will, we are definitely in the right and narrow road to our happiness, which is God. What is the relationship between evangelization and your spiritual life (prayer)? Evangelization is an extension of my prayerful life. From the grace we receive from God, we are able to offer our good work to our Lord, Jesus Christ. We turn, by our offering to God and by God's grace, a natural act into a supernatural act. The Holy Spirit is within the team, and the team is with the Holy Spirit. That is why we always start our evangelization with a prayer and we conclude with a prayer. The Holy Spirit will aid the team to plant seeds that will grow into loving hearts for Jesus. Is there a scripture passage that you turn to often, or a favorite part of Mass? My favorite passage is John 6:51-56. "I am the living bread that came down from Heaven, if any one eats of this bread, he will live for ever…" CCC 1324 The eucharist is the source and summit of the Christian life. Likewise, my favorite part of the Mass is the consecration of the bread and wine. If we are in the state of grace, we receive merit from the eucharist, which is Sanctifying grace. That is why the eucharist is my source and summit of my Christian life.
