It’s time to put what we’ve learned into practice. Use everything you’ve learned in this lesson to engage in authentic conversational evangelization. This practical activity is meant to help you to begin gaining some experience in engaging with Protestants using the One Good Reason method. The activity has 4 steps:
- Attend a Protestant service.* What differences do you notice from Catholic worship? What similarities?
- Could you make a connection between distinctions and observations made in this lesson with anything you experienced in the service? If so, what were these?
- Think about how you would engage a Protestant on some of these differences, coming from the Catholic perspective. You may also choose to try it out for real!
- When you are ready, please also post in the School Forums about your experience doing this practical activity. There is a specific topic created for this. Also, give a constructive question or comment about the lesson, or somebody else’s post on their experience doing the practical activity. All of this is required for your certificate of completion for this module!
*It must be stressed here that attendance at such a service may not include reception of another faith groups’ Communion (cf. canon 844 of the 1983 Code of Canon Law and canon 671 of the 1990 Code of Canons of Eastern Churches). Also, attending a Protestant service does not fulfill one’s obligation to attend Mass on Sundays and holy days of obligation.
